Position Overview

 

Our team is currently looking for a

Civil/Structural Engineer

in the Power industry for one of our clients. This is a full-time, remote position within the United States. While prior US Commercial Nuclear experience is a priority, it's not strictly required. However,

expertise with ANSYS is a must-have.

You'll apply technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision-making to perform civil/structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures. Candidates should possess a strong design background and be proficient in structural concrete and steel analysis and design.


 

Responsibilities & Essential Duties

 

  • Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures, including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.).

  • Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants to allow effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should possess or acquire general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields to function on multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies.

  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills and routinely interacts with contractors and/or regulatory bodies.

  • Leads the oversight of suppliers and reviews technical information (i.e., drawings, reports, specifications, calculations, etc.) to ensure it aligns with statements of work and requirements documents.

  • Provides mentorship to more junior team members and may be asked to take the lead in technical issues as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


 

Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of a

    BS degree in Civil Engineering

    from an accredited school is required. An advanced degree is preferred. A

    registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred.

  • A minimum of

    8 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience as a Structural Design Engineer is required.

  • Required experience in the following areas:

    • Design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software, and finite element method analyses.

    • Use of ANSYS is required.

  • Working with the following codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual, and Seismic Design Manual.

  • LS-DYNA is preferred.

  • Computer programming skills (e.g., Matlab, or Python) are not required but preferred.

  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
