Our client, one of the world’s leading companies in the energy industry, is looking to appoint an Electrical & Instrumentation Plant Supervisor, to be based in Cabo Delgado.



Key Activities

  • Inspire safety commitment in Company and contractors and subcontractor’s teams via deep knowledge of HSE and leadership by example.
  •  Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements across works to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • The Supervisor shall ensure that construction activities are performed as per project requirements and specifications, in terms of construction methods, safety, quality and schedule.
  • The E&I Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the site works are properly managed and executed by the Contractor and their approved Subcontractors in accordance with the Contract Agreement.
  • Assist to gather and validates ‘lessons learnt’ from all project team and provides feedback thus contributing to the continuous improvement of the E&I team safety awareness and performance.
  • Maintains close work relationship with Contractors, prepares for, and participate in daily progress meetings.
  • Prepare, coordinate and monitor construction activities, as per project requirements and construction procedures, by maintaining close relationship with Contractors.
  • Ensure strong physical presence at Site to demonstrate safety commitment, technical oversight and immediate reporting to his management for all technical or coordination issues or potential risks, as well as any HSE incident.
  • Check the availability and fitness of the contractor’s construction equipment.
  • Check the adequacy of the contractor’s personnel mobilization and demobilization.
  • Support the affiliate on the overall process of projects execution. It includes preparation of scope of works, support on contracts strategies definition, preparation, and evaluation of call for tenders, participation on technical reviews, supervision activities at site, documents management, projects close outs and any other activities that the projects require for a successful completion.
  • Subject to the projects scope of the work, the Discipline Supervisor can have a role of leading a project or to provide assistance in the Electrical discipline.
  • Participate to all quality surveillance programs and inspect the works per discipline as directed in the approved ITPs.
  • Check the engineering documents, in his discipline, prepared by the contractor and to give prompt comments and/or approval, in accordance with the contract procedures and requirements.
  • Check the incorporation of such comments by the contractor.
  • Participate in the technical reviews.
  • Review and comment contractors’ procedures and clarify methods and services activities related to Electrical works.
  • In close cooperation with engineering and construction teams assists to preparation of answers to contractors’ queries
  • Responsible for verification of progress reporting of construction activities per discipline.
  • Attend projects meetings when required.
  • Issue daily and weekly progress report on Construction activities to the project management team
  • Is familiar with Company information systems (ex. ICAPS, Internal Reference STOP card or equivalent)
  • Participate to all necessary project planning meetings to ensure a smooth resolution of all technical issues, prior any impact to schedule or cost, as well by anticipating such issues as required.

  • Project Entity is a multinational joint venture, has a large social performance element and is project financed by high profile lenders.
  • Mozambique LNG is a multinational joint venture, has a large social performance element and is project financed by high profile lenders. Its development requires the execution of multiple simultaneous projects that all combined are part of the complete development.
  • Afungi Site is extremely remote in Northern Mozambique with unreliable infrastructure and communications.
  • The site is subject to mitigation measures based on Malaria and general security risks.
  • Rotational position

Accountability

  • Responsible for construction activities within specified area in close collaboration with EPC Contractor as per project rules including project objectives for HSE, Quality, Schedule, and Cost aspect.
  • Coordination with other departments for the safe and on?time execution of the work, to deliver a fit?for?purpose facility.

Qualifications

  • Education: A technologist degree/diploma or equivalent qualification or equivalent in Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines field and/or Oil & Gas construction projects.
  • Education: A degree/diploma qualification or equivalent in related discipline field and/or Oil & Gas construction projects.
  • 10 years’ experience in related discipline works and suitable general knowledge in industrial projects
  • Full understanding of areas critical to the success of industrial projects: safety, environmental, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk.
  • Good level of knowledge on electrical plant equipment (switchgear, protection relays, generators, transformers, electrical motors, ATEX / Ex equipment, battery systems, etc) construction, its inspection, maintenance, and repair.
  • Understanding of electrical power system control and operation.
  • Good electrical operational safety knowledge.
  • Strong HSE culture and safety leadership, effective communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decisions.
  • Strong English and Portuguese written and verbal communication skills required. French is advantageous.
