Our client, a global leading provider in the Energy sector, is looking to appoint a successful Agriculture Livelihood Officer.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Officer is responsible for carrying out the task associated with the delivery of compensation including executing land-based and fisheries-based compensation agreements with Project Affected People, relocation of families to the Quitunda resettlement village, and field oversight of the Implementation Partner (IP) responsible for the relocation of the graves.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Sign in situ, on behalf of the Project, over 1,000 land-based and 2,000 fisheries-based compensation agreements
- Print compensation agreements and perform checks to ensure correctness before collecting signatures from impacted families
- Conduct daily field oversight of the compensation agreement signing process, ensuring effective implementation of the household agreements signing procedure
- Perform checks on signed compensation agreements and proof of payments for completeness and file them
- Provide support to the resettlement-affected households to obtain the documentation required for payment of signed compensation agreements, including tax certificates and banks accounts
- Ensure signed compensation agreement and proof of payment documentation are recorded through photographs and videotaping
- Participate in the investigation of new land occupations and participate in feedback sessions with the relevant stakeholders.
- Maintains physical and electronic filing system of compensation-related documentation
- Daily field coordination of all preparatory work required for and the actual relocation of the physical relocation of families from their place of origin to the Quitunda resettlement village
- Daily field coordination of all preparatory work required (including engagement with affected families and Local Government) and oversight of the Implementation Partner (IP) responsible for the grave’s relocation
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS):
Experience:
- University degree in the relevant area, including rural development, economics, sociology, or geography
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in engaging communities for compensation, relocation of families, and relocation of graves
- Negotiation and conflict management skills
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with stakeholders including local communities, government authorities, implementation partners, and CSOs/NGOs
Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Rural Development, Economics, Sociology or Geography
WORK CONDITIONS
- The post holder is expected to interface with various internal and external stakeholders including, the Communities and Social Affairs Team, Finance Team, Monitoring and Evaluation Team, Ips, and community leadership.
