Our client, a global leading provider in the Energy industry, is looking to appoint a successful Snr Site Communications Coordinator to be based in Afungi.

JOB DIMENSION

This position is responsible for developing and supporting the execution of the project’s overall communications strategy at site level, working with other departments based on site as well as coordinating with other departments at Maputo level. It is also responsible to ensure that all communications are aligned with the project’s goals as well as having a good understanding of the needs at the local level both from internal clients and from external clients to be able to implement the external communication’s strategy. The position will work very closely with other areas within the public affairs and external communication’s department ensuring coordination of external events at site level, management of branding materials including proper usage of it.

ACTIVITIES

•    Oversee the development and execution of all communications plans at site level

•    Provide necessary support and guidance to the accounts management, tools production and editorial production team as well as to the public relations teams in relations to communications and engagement with different stakeholders

•    Support and liaise with the different departments at site when having events, openings, and activities

•    Manage and organize all brand material that is on site

•    Send biweekly and monthly reports of all activities that happen on site

•    Guide the team in Maputo on what is needed, in terms of communication, on the site

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

Client is the Operator of the Mozambique LNG project, a flagship $20B USD project to produce 13.1 MT/y of LNG in an initial phase in the Northern province of Mozambique, Cabo Delgado. The project has developed a communications’ strategy that is critical to preempt messages and tell the story of an exemplary and virtuous development. The core themes of communication for assisting the Project in building its image and reputation include: Mozambican gas will contribute to the global Energy Security, best in class project to reduce CO2 emissions and help southern economies to decarbonate, economically transformative for Mozambique (tax revenues, local content for individuals and domestic gas commitment), an exemplary project in terms of Security, Human Rights respect (resettlement), benefitting the local communities in the site area through unique socio-economic development (Tunaweza, and further the Foundation). The project is located in different parts (Maputo, Afungi, Paris, Houston, Milan and Singapore)

ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position is based in Afungi and will work closely with all the teams based in Afungi but also with the communication team in Maputo. The position will work as a bridge between Maputo and the site to ensure consistency in information as well as ensuring proper visibility of the Mozambique LNG at the local level and within the communities and local stakeholders.  

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

•    The position requires a bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing or other areas such as social development, sociology, etc.  

•    5-10 years’ experience in the communication area. Experience in the private sector/O&G industry is an advantage

•    Ability to engage internal and external stakeholders 

•    High quality writing, speaking and presentation skills with accomplished journalistic style (in English)

•    Knowledge of one of the Cabo Delgado’s local language is an advantage

•    Good global comprehension of the current situations of the oil & gas sector 

•    Sound knowledge and journalistic experience required in the field of oil and gas. 

•    Good interpersonal and listening skills and a heightened sense of diplomacy. 

•    Teamwork and working in close collaboration with other departments. 

•    Able to work under pressure and rigorous respect of deadlines
