ROLE OVERVIEW:
Global Edge Group has an immediate opportunity for a
contract HR Business Partner to support one of our Tier-I organizations Canadian - Eastern and Western operations. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to frontline and mid-level managers, delivering operational HR solutions to help the business achieve its objectives while protecting the company's interests.- Location: St. Louis, MO (Must be local)
- Reporting To: North America HR Manager
- Travel Requirement:Up to 25% travel to site locations across Eastern and Western Canada
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS & LEADERSHIP COACHING:
Casework Management: Advise and support on employee relations cases (e.g., grievances, discipline, performance improvement plans, absences, terminations), conducting thorough investigations when necessary.
Performance Management: Partner with leadership teams and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to implement performance management strategies, including disciplinary actions and performance plans.
Manager Training: Assist in developing and delivering training on employee relations and people practices aligned with company culture.
Coaching & Partnering: Serve as a trusted advisor to frontline/mid-level managers and HR colleagues, coaching leadership teams to protect the company's interests.
HR Policy & Legal Compliance: Support HR policy and compliance by ensuring alignment with global standards, as well as provincial and federal Canadian labor laws. Update policies, handbooks, and employment contracts based on regulatory changes.
Site Safety & Compliance: Observe safe workplace behaviors, engage actively with employees and supervisors, and maintain the display of updated compliance posters during regular site visits.
Legal Representation: Liaise with internal and external legal counsel, representing the company in any legal or mediation proceedings pertaining to employees.
HR COLLABORATION & WORKFORCE PLANNING:
HRBP Collaboration: Partner with HRBPs to deliver operational support for local employees and leaders, ensuring smooth execution of core HR processes (e.g., promotions, separation execution, employee relations, and hiring/onboarding).
Workforce Plan Implementation: Support local workforce strategy and implement workforce plans by coordinating hiring, internal mobility, restructuring, termination activities, and capability development.
COE Collaboration: Provide input and feedback to global Centers of Excellence (COEs)—including Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and Culture & Engagement—regarding Canada-specific plan design, legal compliance, policy interpretation, and employee communications.
Total Rewards Support: Support job offers, salary increases, promotions, retention, and recognition processes by reviewing compensation data, preparing recommendations, and ensuring alignment with the corporate compensation philosophy.
CULTURE & COMMUNICATIONS:
Employee Engagement & Culture: Partner with HRBPs to implement key initiatives related to culture, inclusion, and engagement.
Cross-Functional Communications: Support various business groups, HR COEs, and HRBPs with their communications to Canadian employees, coordinating for French/English translations as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:7+ years of dedicated experience in employee relations and labor relations.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree specifically in an HR discipline.
Knowledge Base:
Extensive, deep knowledge of HR laws and regulations (specifically Canadian labor laws).
