Our client, a global leading provider in the Mining industry, is looking to appoint a successful Loan Implementation and Management Specialist to be based in Maputo.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Loan Portfolio Specialist to oversee and manage the company's loan obtained. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the loan and ensuring compliance with 


loan agreements, monitoring loan performance, managing relationships with representatives and all internal areas, and implementing risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the company's financial interests.


This role ensures that the loan is managed efficiently, risks are minimized, and regulatory compliance is maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Oversee all aspects of the loan, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions outlined in the Loan Agreement, the Accounts Agreement, and other related Financing Documents.


•    Maintain up-to-date records of loan disbursements, repayments, covenants, Waivers, and reporting requirements.


•    Coordinate with internal departments and individuals responsible for loan deliverables to ensure timely submission of required reports and documentation.


•    Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to loan management.


•    Monitor loan performance, including repayment schedules, interest calculations, and covenant compliance.


•    Prepare and submit periodic financial and operational reports to Lenders as mandated.


•    Track key financial indicators and alert management of potential issues, risks, or breaches.


•    Utilize monitoring tools and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such repayment rates, and arrears, etc.


•    Identify any potential/actual covenant breaches/breaches of loan clauses in connection with loan within cure periods as applicable or issues requiring intervention.


•    Assist with waiver/amendment documents as required to ensure ongoing compliance with loan.


•    Serve as the primary point of contact at Client between the company and Lender regarding the loan.


•    Facilitate communication, negotiations, and meetings with the Sponsor and Lenders representatives.


•    Address lenders inquiries and coordinate audits or reviews, as necessary.


•    Assess and monitor risks associated with the loan, including financial, operational, and compliance risks.


•    Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.


•    Incorporate loan obligations into the company's financial planning and cash flow management.


•    Support strategic decision-making related to loan utilization and repayment strategies.


•    Maintain organized documentation of all loan-related correspondence, agreements, reports, and compliance records.


•    Ensure data security and confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•    Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field. 


•    Master’s degree or any professional certification in finance or accounting are preferred.


•    10+ years of overall relevant working experience.


•    Experience in working with Development Finance Institutions, e.g. Millennium Challenge Corporation, IFC, is essential.


•    Strong familiarity with Lenders or any International Financial Institution loan agreements, multi-lateral development bank financing, and related compliance requirements.


•    Proven experience (typically 4+ years) in loan/credit risk management, portfolio management, project finance or related roles within development finance or banking.


•    Strong understanding of financial analysis, reporting, and risk management.


•    Stakeholder engagement and communication: excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with representatives and internal teams.


•    Prior experience with project management.


•    Attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.


•    Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., MS Excel, financial modelling software, loan management systems).
