Global Edge Intern

An internship is a great glimpse of what a career can look like. The 2025 Global Edge summer Internship Program has been one for the books. With 10 interns across 7 different departments, there have been successes, redirections, and plenty of learning curves. This class of interns has shown great improvements and a passion to learn. As we close our 10-week internship program, we have decided to reflect on what our interns have learned and experienced.
Global Edge’s Company Culture
The first day is always daunting. Stepping into a new environment can be challenging, but the second the interns stepped off the elevator, they took that challenge head-on. A company culture that allows new employees to be comfortable is a great way to break interns out of their shells. In an interview, Colton, a finance intern, said, “As an intern, the first few days can be a little scary, but all of the staff made me feel at home very quickly.” Global Edge’s warm welcome and friendly demeanor can be credited to making sure every intern felt like they were a part of the team.

A Learning Filled Program
So much learning was bestowed upon the interns during their 10-week experience. Each intern learned something new, whether that be how to effectively communicate to a multitude of people or the skill of pivoting at the drop of a dime. Every intern learned technical and soft skills that can be transferred from job to job. For example, Isabelle, our IT intern, learned problem-solving through fixing IT issues. Emily, our HR intern, said she is proud of the new skills she has learned so early on in her career. This summer was filled with extensive knowledge that the interns will carry through the rest of their careers.
Accomplishments
With learning, there have also been many achievements. The interns have accomplished a lot through the duration of the program. From running social media campaigns to even interviewing potential candidates, the interns gained practical experience through direct involvement. When we set out on creating this internship program this year, we made it a priority to give the interns real projects so that at the end of their time here, they’d have true knowledge. The projects each intern was given were a direct reflection of work given in the real world. We ensured our intern team was a part of projects that were beneficial to Global Edge.
Mentorship
Mentorships are a great way to enhance internships. For this internship, every intern was paired with a mentor to help enrich their experience. Mentors played a pivotal role in supporting interns and guiding them. Every mentor helped develop their intern’s personal and professional skills. Each mentor was committed to seeing their intern grow throughout this internship program. Sydnee, a finance intern, said she will always cherish the knowledge, guidance, and friendship her mentor provided during her internship. Kudos to all the mentors; they played an important role in the advancement of our interns’ careers.
The Value Of An Intern
Internships matter. Each intern brings with them fresh perspectives and a diversity of thoughts. Interns view the company through a different lens due to them being fresh to the organization. Seth, an IT mentor, said: “Interns bring fresh perspectives and new ideas that seasoned employees might not think about.” Internships are mutually valuable to both interns and the employer. With the addition of interns, Global Edge saw a boost in team morale.” Internships boost team morale while also strengthening leadership among the entire organization. Kaleigh, a mentor, said: “These programs serve as a valuable talent pipeline, allowing innovative, forward-thinking organizations to identify and invest in future high-potential employees early on.” Interns breed change. They question processes and make seasoned employees think about what they have become accustomed to.

Tips For Future Interns
As a parting gift, the 2025 interns decided to lend a hand to future interns who may be a bit anxious about their start. All future interns were encouraged to be inquisitive and to put themselves out there by asking questions. Everyone in the company wants to see the interns grow, so learning and speaking up will never be frowned upon. Ariel, our marketing intern, said: “Get to know the people in the office. Knowing everyone in the office will prove to be beneficial.” Learn who’s at the desk over, get to know them. Colton said to come in with an open mind and explore all areas of the business. Learning the ins and outs of each department will give added knowledge of the company, and using these tips will make sure internship experiences are maximized.
Overall, the 2025 Global Edge summer Internship Program has proven itself to be enriching and fruitful. The setbacks proved to be stepping stones, and the redirections manifested into elongated success. The 10 shy interns who were quiet as a mouse when they came in are not the same 10 interns who are confident and ready to take on what’s next. Wherever they may go next, what they learned at Global Edge will stay with them throughout their career. We would like to wish the Class of 2025 Interns great success in their future.
