PURPOSE OF ROLE: 

  • Responsible for planning, controlling, and directing the operations of a Depot. Ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. Formulate and implement policies and procedures to maximize output. Follow SHEQ policies and procedures and ensure they are always implemented. Pay attention to the monthly financials and budgets, keep costs in line with budgets. Propper planning and execution of daily tasks as per clients requirements and needs, and supplying quality service. Interact daily with customers and direct reports to ensure operations flow smoothly and are performed within customers’ and company guidelines and procedures.

 

ACTIVITIES


SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIBILITIES 

  •  Implement and enforce HSE compliance in storage by all employees, visitors, and contractors. 
  •  Ensure that the Handling, treating, and disposing of waste responsibly in accordance with regulatory requirements.  
  •  Use natural resources responsibly. 
  •  Participate in all emergency drills. 
  • Enforce SHE policies and procedures. 
  • To guarantee the observance of rules on hygiene and safety at work, as well as to investigate the causes of work accidents and occupational illnesses and to take appropriate preventive measures. 
  • To provide employees with good physical and moral conditions at work. 
  • Identify HST Hazards/Aspects and Risks/Impacts in their areas of operation. 
  • Ensure that all personnel under your authority list stop cards as required. 
  • Participate in the Work Safety Analysis and Equipment Verification before the start of tasks. 
  • Ensure the implementation of Safe Work Procedures in their areas of reference. 
  • Identify SHE Hazards and Aspects in their respective departments or control areas. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant documentation requirements. 
  • Write Safe Work Procedures. 
  • Coordinate training employees in Safe Work Procedures. 
  • Ensure the implementation and fulfilment of Operational Plans in their respective departments or control areas. 
  • Ensure that contractors comply with the procedures and requirements specified in the Contractor's Agreement. 
  • Communicates with Suppliers and Contractors on SHE Requirements. 
  • Implement and manage controls and practices for legal compliance. 
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions for legal and internal audit non-compliance. 
  • Record, relate, act on, and close all nonconformities. 
  • Implement agreed actions resulting from audits. 
  • Ensures the fulfilment of objectives and targets in the control areas. 
  • Provide resources for emergency equipment and training. 
  • Approval and implementation of Emergency Plans. 
  • Have the authority to Stop Work in cases of unsafe conditions or behaviors observed. 


OPERATIONS 

  • Responsible for successfully leading multiple high-profile projects simultaneously, while having responsibility for decision-making and process improvement and implementation. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all transported products / waste is compliant with all regulations. 
  • Identify areas for opportunity, as well as create and implement solutions. 
  • Dealing with both internal and external vendors and suppliers; improving overall customer experience and driving efficiency and optimization. 
  • Ensuring all activities are in line with client requirements, e.g., bin types, delivery dates, etc. 
  • Encourage new Business development by meeting clients, building / enhancing relationships with clients, assisting in tenders, documentation, etc. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
  • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies. 
  • Direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
  • Conduct or review environmental audits for logistics activities, such as storage, distribution, or transportation.
  • Implement or monitor carbon or environmental management, accounting, or audit systems. 
  • Be familiar with, engage in and become a leader in onshore oil and gas waste management operations.

 

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT 

  • Lead, the effective management of the functional areas to maximize financial performance while upholding quality standards and maximizing levels of guest satisfaction. 
  • Compile, forecast and control annual Distribution Centre and Logistics Services cost budgets.
  • Actively manage finances, budgets, and related accounting systems by ensuring the appropriate financial controls are in place and maintained to control overheads and expenditure, manage cash flow, and ensure profitability. 
  • Accurate and timeous reporting to Head Office on agreed deadlines, which clearly explain operational effectiveness, trends, and variances. 
  • Managing and controlling the expenditure of the Depot and operations according to financial procedures to minimize expenditure. 
  • Fleet Management 
  • Responsible for daily vehicles business management, ensure vehicles operation; support efficiently daily business, be responsible for the consequence. 
  • Schedule new vehicle route, setup petrol cost baseline, implement with IT tools, optimize vehicle management pattern, and promote efficiency on vehicle using. 
  • Ensure optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency. 
  • Provide technical and functional supervision over assigned mechanical maintenance personnel; assists in administrative duties of the division; performs major and minor repairs to Company vehicles, trucks, and other power-driven equipment. 
  • Perform a variety of duties in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing vehicles, equipment and components. Lead, organize, and review the work of staff. 

 

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCED REQUIRED  

  • Matric / Grade 12 NQF 4.
  • Degree/Diploma in Logistics or Waste Management, engineering, environmental, construction or similar.
  • 10 years of experience in oil and gas sector.
  • At least 5 years of experience of industrial waste management. 
  • Strong Knowledge of Safety Health and Environmental Laws.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and waste management solutions.
