Our team is currently looking for a Mechanical QA Inspector for a client in the Oil and Gas industry.
The Mechanical QA Inspector will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical aspects of the project meet the company’s quality standards and requirements. The individual will work closely with the QA/Commissioning team to oversee the installation, inspection, and testing of mechanical equipment within our Bakken asset. Projects range from Gas Plants, Pipelines, Compressor Stations to Well Sites. This role demands a high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and industry standards.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Inspection and Quality Control:
Conduct inspections of mechanical equipment and installations, including piping, valves, compressors, and pumps.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Monitor and audit the work of subcontractors to ensure mechanical works adhere to contractual agreements and quality benchmarks.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain quality documentation such as inspection reports, test results, and certification records.
Report any non-conformances or discrepancies in installation or equipment to the Project Manager and propose corrective actions.
Testing and Verification
Perform and witness tests on mechanical systems and components to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and tools.
Review project turnover documentation and packages, ensuring accurate and complete documentation was delivered.
Collaboration and Coordination
Attend project meetings to provide updates on quality assurance activities and issues.
Recommend improvements to internal processes and quality control techniques.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical quality assurance within the oil and gas sector.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical quality assurance roles, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) - Preferred
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or similar welding inspection certification - Required
API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector and/or API 570 Piping Inspector certifications - Preferred
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification - Preferred
In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and quality assurance best practices.
Familiarity with oil and gas industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI).
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in quality inspection tools, measurement, and testing equipment.
Advanced ability to interpret and inspect P&IDs.
Willingness to work in field environments, potentially in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends, if required by project demands.
